My Journey To The Light
About Me: My Journey to the Light
Hi, I’m Kat. My path to finding my true self wasn’t easy—it led me through deep darkness, depression, and hopelessness. At one point, I felt lost and disconnected from myself and the world, searching desperately for just one good reason to keep going.
I turned to psychology, hoping to find answers. Six years of studying, and earning a degree in clinical psychology and counseling, brought knowledge but not clarity. The void remained.
Seeking deeper understanding, I began teaching yoga, meditation, qigong, and Chinese martial arts. I traveled to Thailand, immersed myself in vipassana retreats, and lived in monasteries. Still, a sense of something missing lingered.
Eventually, I took vows and became a Buddhist nun under the guidance of my teacher, Master Jiru (MABA). For two years in Taiwan and another two in America, I lived the monastic life. In that quiet, disciplined environment, I had a profound realization: my true nature—pure and unbroken—had never left me. It wasn’t something external or lost; it was always there, waiting to be seen.
That realization changed everything. I knew my path lay outside the monastery walls, dedicated to serving others.
Today, I share what I’ve learned through service and connection. I volunteer at hospices, bringing comfort to seniors. I support children in adoption centers. And I offer spiritual consultations to anyone seeking guidance, hoping to share the light I found within.
If you’re searching for your own light, know that you’re not alone. It’s closer than you think, and I’m here to help you find it.
